Decorate a round fan with Japanese paper cutting technique.
After observing the making of Kyoto round fans and learning their history, enjoy decorating your round fan with Japanese paper cutting technique.
Visitors will be guided through the workshop where they can actually
see the manufacturing process of Kyo-uchiwa.
Having also been highly regarded as an art craft since ancient times, uchiwa-men (fan masks) are made from many materials that resemble traditional Japanese paintings.
Many of the works express the beauty of Japan, including people, plants, and seasonal scenes.
※ Children under 11 are invited to decorate their fans with a collage of pieces of multicolored handmade Japanese paper.
