Enjoy your visit to a long-established Nishijin brocade shop with a more than 100-year history.
Yarn-dyed silk brocade industry in Kyoto Nishijin area is characterized by the production of unique items in small quantities. It is so well-known all over Japan, that the word “Nishijin-ori”, or Nishijin textiles, boasts to be the synonym for a beautiful obi sash. Don't miss the rare chance to visit the atelier where famous textiles are made and actually try your hand at a handloom weaving. You will surely create some unforgettable memories here! Feel free to visit Orinasukan, a textile museum adjoining the workshop, as well.
*As you will try your hand at weaving on the handloom actually used by the atelier's craftsmen, you won't be able to take the woven piece home.
