This course gives you an opportunity to tour the atelier where the karakami is printed and to try your hand at authentic woodblock printing.

Seeing the craftsmen line up the patters using only their 5 senses and years of experience is a rare sight. After observing the techniques in action, you will get to print 4 karakami papers using W47xH28cm sized woodblocks with the assistance of a skilled craftsman. (1 paper with assistance + 3 papers by yourself) Choose from 3 woodblock patterns which change every month, gold/silver printing colours and 5 colours of paper to create your own combination which you can take home at the end of the day. Use your printed paper for an interior panel, mini folding screen and more (available as a paid option). Decorate your room with a memory of Kyoto. ＊You get to experience the world of Kyo-karakami using woodblocks over 120 years and the same materials and techniques as professional craftsmen.
